10 Reasons Why I’ll Never Buy a Foldable Phone Again
Foldable phones may seem futuristic and innovative, but after using one, I’ve realized they come with more problems than benefits. Here’s why I’ll never waste my money on one again.
1. Durability Issues
Foldables are more fragile than regular smartphones. The hinge mechanism collects dust and weakens over time, while the flexible screen is prone to scratches, dents, and even cracks from regular use.
2. Annoying Screen Crease
No matter which foldable you buy, the crease never disappears. Over time, it becomes more noticeable and can even impact touch sensitivity. It’s an eyesore and a constant reminder of the phone’s biggest flaw.
3. Poor Battery Life
Two screens require more power, yet foldables often have smaller batteries than traditional flagships. This means more frequent charging and less battery longevity.
4. Bulky & Heavy Design
Foldable phones are thicker and heavier than regular smartphones. They don’t fit comfortably in pockets, and using them one-handed is a struggle.
5. Overpriced for What You Get
Foldables cost as much (or more) than top-tier flagship phones but lack the same durability, camera quality, and battery performance. You’re essentially paying a premium for a gimmick.
6. Poor Resale Value
Unlike iPhones or flagship Androids, foldables lose value fast. Buyers are hesitant because of durability concerns, so selling or trading one in later won’t get you a great deal.
7. App Compatibility Issues
Many apps are not optimized for foldables, leading to awkward UI layouts, scaling issues, and even crashes. Some apps refuse to work properly on the larger inner display.
8. Mediocre Camera Quality
To keep the design slim, most foldables sacrifice camera quality. Even expensive foldables don’t match the camera performance of non-folding flagships like the Galaxy S Ultra or iPhone Pro series.
9. Expensive & Difficult Repairs
A cracked inner display or faulty hinge can cost hundreds of dollars to fix, and not all repair shops can handle foldable screen replacements. If you break it, expect a painful repair bill.
10. Performance Issues Over Time
Foldables tend to slow down faster than traditional smartphones due to their complex software and hardware integration. Lag, glitches, and touch responsiveness issues become more common after a year or two.
Final Verdict: Not Worth It!
Foldable phones are cool in theory, but in reality, they’re expensive, fragile, and impractical for daily use. I’ll be sticking to regular flagship smartphones from now on.
